For 2019, we are pleased to announce the donation over 4000 eggs to Brigadoon Village along with a $3000 contribution to their healthy eating program. On August 6th, EFNS was represented by Jeff, Kelly and Nick Clarke from Southview Farms and Geneve Newcombe, from Cornwallis Farms at Brigadoon Village and were pleased to host a cooking class for campers. The class taught the children the delicious benefits of eating fresh, local eggs. Along with the cooking class, EFNS farmers provided participants aprons, spatulas, recipe books and microwave egg cookers.
Brigadoon Village is nestled in the Annapolis Valley overlooking beautiful Aylesford Lake. Brigadoon is a camp-style sanctuary for Atlantic Canadian children living with health conditions and other life challenges. Until Brigadoon’s creation in 2010, there was no facility of its kind in Atlantic Canada that could address the various needs of the pediatric chronic illness community. Today it is a flourishing community and greatly valued by Atlantic Canadians. This summer the village will welcome over 700 children at their 14 summer camp programs. Each program is dedicated to a specific disease group and creates lifelong friends among the children.
We are honoured to have been a part of giving these kids a safe place to be exactly that, kids and to help them maintain healthy lifestyles with fresh, local high-quality eggs.
This project was made possible through the Egg Farmers Give Back funding program.
